Our Story

Michael Anthony Garcia. Panggilan sayang dirumah "Honey", friends call me "Mike", my mom calls me "Mikey"

Maureen Desiree Patty-Garcia. Nicknames"Ody" & "Maudy". Nieces and Nephews call me "Dudut" For close friends "Oin" Suamiku panggil "Cinta" sounds a little bit 'norak' yaa - for Indonesians :) tapi buat bule it's unique.

Our Dog - "JACK" black labrador and boxer mix. Born on October 26, 2002. We got him when he was only 8wks old. The old owners didn't want him (and his 5 other siblings) because it was an unwanted pregnancy. Their female boxer got knocked out by the neighbour's black lab, so when the puppies came to this world, they were giving 'em away. We got Jack for FREE... He's a very very cute puppy, very smart and extra spoiled too. His Vet loves him, she says "Jack is a very strong and muscular dog" OF COURSE LAH... we take him to the dog park almost every weekend for his exercise. In this picture Jack was confused and tried to attack my new slippers - Mike bought me black bear slippers as one of his many Christmas gifts - and when I put it on Jack kept trying to chew and nibble the bear's nose and when I got up and walked around he chased me and tried to attack the bears. Soooo cuuutteeeee....

We met on line thru a match-making website on or about October 1999. I didn't take it seriously at first, but Mike was a persistent person. He kept on sending me emails and pictures. After a few months our 'on-line' conversation got more serious. He went to Jakarta June 2000 to meet me the first time... and propose too. My parents were not so happy about the fact that their daughter was having a long-distance relationship with an American guy whom they didn't know at all... I didn't really know him that well either!! But at that moment I thought I got nothing to lose, so I just went along with whatever fate was taking me to. Mike asked for my hand in marriage to my parents in front of the whole family on June 20, 2000. December 2000 he applied a Fiance Visa at the Immigration Office here in Denver, August 2001 I finally got my visa. Left Indonesia October 26, 2001 (a few weeks after 9/11) for the United States of America.

We got married December 8, 2001. Pemberkatan Nikah (Holy Matrimony) was done at the "Light and Life Community Church" in Lakewood, Colorado. It's been 4 great years now, our relationship is getting better and stronger. I couldn't have asked for a better husband.

Maureen's Word of Wisdom:
"Life is all about taking chances. Don't be afraid to take the first step, otherwise you look back one day and find yourself at the very same spot"
