5281 Award

Mike and I went to the 5281 Employee Awards February 9, 2006.

What's the meaning of 5281?
Denver is called the Mile High City cause we are about a mile above the sea level. One mile = 5280 foot. That's why it's called 5281 - A Step Above the Rest.

The Child Support Division consists of several teams: 1 establishment team, 1 interstate team, 1 financial team, 1 in-take team and 4 enforcement teams (team 11, 44, 55 and 66). I'm in team 11. Each team has 10-12 members. Enforcement teams are the teams that generate revenue (brings money) for the division, which at the end will all go to the City & County of Denver. Each and every tech in our team collected over $1 million for 2005. Our supervisor, Judy, nominated us to receive the award in the Goals Achievement category -- Thank you, Judy!!

All of us got there almost at the same time, except Lenny (the only man in our team), he's been sick for a few days so he decided not to go. We then were instructed to go upstairs to have refreshments and have our picture taken as a group. This upper level was for employees only... spouses, families, relatives and friends are not allowed to go up. We had fun taking pictures... Mayor John Hickenlooper was supposed to take picture with someone right after our group, but he 'volunteered' to be in our picture too...

Top Row (from left to right): Albie, Me, Mayor John Hickenlooper, Janine, Debbie and Nancy. Sitting Down (from left to right): Sharon, Gloria, Judy (our supervisor), Patricia and Nina.

Mike and me, taken after the Award Ceremony was done. (I asked Judy to take this one, she was the only one who brought camera). Mike was so excited, I think he was more excited than me, to go this ceremony. I didn't really want to go but then I thought I just started this blog and wanted to get some good pictures, also it's not every year we get to get appreciated and being awarded like this. So I finally decided to go, after being 'forced' by my husband :) He wanted to see Mayor Hickenlooper in person cause he voted for him.

This picture below was taken when we had our Division Meeting. Our theme for this year is "Pot of Goals" so each team had to wear different rainbow colors, and ours was purple. There are two new members of our Team 11. They're Little Deb (wearing dark plum dress, showing off her nails) and Teresa (wearing purple pantyhose) right behind Little Deb.
